2005 Outback Transmission

Asked by DM697 Jan 21, 2019 at 12:36 PM about the 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5 i Limited Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trans went out in my 2005 Outback and I have a 2007 Legacy trans.  Is it the
same transmission?  If not can it still be used?

I would drop the 05 transmission and compare. Make sure all the electrical connectors are the same before installing the transmission.

They are the same. There are 6 automatic transmission for 2005-2009 there is the one for 2.5L non turbo, one for 3.0L non turbo, one for 3.6L non turbo, one for 2.5L turbo, one 5 speed manual and one 6 speed manual found in the spec b. You can put any 2005-2009 trans from the same type of motor in. They are all the same.
