Lincoln LS 2002 V8 a lot of road noise in the rear of cabin coming from rear wheels

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

There seems to be a lot of road noise coming from the rear tires. The tires are fairly new
and there was the same noise with older tires. It doesn't sound whining but it just seems
to be road noise. Is this normal for this type of car?

That's a tough one. The wheel bearings could fail and cause a continual road-speed rumble. You could also set your tire pressures to the recommended psi on the driver's side "B" pillar instead of the max on the tire.

I had this same problem when I switched tires from Goodyear GT to a michelin tire on a Chrysler product only to find out that even though the Michelin model tire was a better all around proforming tire the Goodyear tire at the Chrysler recomeneded psi would make their car sound quieter on the road at all speed ranges. Just a thought
