The Serpentine belt in my 2004 Lincoln LS falls off a lot...What do I do?

Asked by Anthony28314 Mar 27, 2015 at 10:37 AM about the 2004 Lincoln LS V6 Luxury

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have replaced pulleys and yet none seem frayed or worn down. We replaced the belt
it still falls off either while turning over or about 6 miles down the road. It has only had one
owner before me and I know them very well. How do you recommend I fix it?

There is a tension pulley. Has anyone been using this pulley to tighten the belt?

Here is a video which shows you how the tension pulley works and the tool needed. He also says there are two different belts. Has the auto shop been giving you the wrong belt the whole time?

Okay, but do you have the right size belt? I think he said that there is a 108" belt and a 109" belt. If it keeps falling off, I would go with the smaller belt. Is it the original engine?
