The general recommendation is to mix coolant 50/50 with distilled or at least very clean, not hard water. This will give you protection down to -35 degrees F. Be sure you do not dilute a "pre mixed" coolant any further. It is already a 50/50 mix. Test what's in your cooling system now because if just water was ever added, your freezing point will not be low enough and you will want to add concentrated coolant to bring it down again to -35F. Get the correct brand, or a "universal type" for your car and generally follow the instructions on the jug.

Follow the directions on the coolant bottle. Over 60% ethylene glycol does not reduce the freezing temp.
