Asked by John Apr 01, 2017 at 10:24 PM about the 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Changed spark plugs,  wires, coil,
crank shaft sensor,  cam shaft
sensor,  pulled the starter had it
checked its good. Flywheel is
good as well. Pulled the ecu and
had it checked. Thats good... What
else could it be?  Its not getting
spark but getting fuel?  Even if fuel
pump was bad it would still
sputter a little at least. Changed
out the ignition cluster as well still
nothing.

Seems like you have checked and/or replaced everything. Do the old fashion test on it, while cranking spray starting fluid in to intake manifold, if it does not try to start you can suspect the ignition system. So check 40 amp fusible link (hot all the time) then ECU # 1 20 Amps fuse (hot with key on) check ignition relay. If the car tries to start when spaying the starter fluid into the intake manifold, then suspect a fuel problem. Check fuel pressure if pressure low, check fuel regulator, if regulator good then check fuel pump. Fuel pump should prime the system when you turn on the key..it should run for about 5 to10 seconds, if you do not hear the pump priming then turn key off for a few minutes and try again. If you do not hear the pump at all check ECU B+ 15 Amp fuse (hot at all times) and the fuel pump relay, if good suspect that you have a defective fuel pump. Make sure spark plug wires are plugged correctly. Good luck.
