My 2003 won't shift out of 1st gear, if pushed hard it will stop pulling, after which you can stop and go back to park and them to drive and it will engage in 1st gear again. Any ideas?

i HAVE A 1998 VENTURE, IT QUIT RUNNING YESTERDAY. NO NOTICE NO SIGNS. IT WILL START BUT WILL NOT ROLL.THINK IT IS TORGUE CONVERTER, OR SENSOR.
