what cause a car not to get gas when pressing on the pedal

Is it a newer car that is fuel injected or older with a carb? If fuel injected then it may be the fuel pump went out on it or the fuel filter is stopped up or the throttle position switch... ?

It's an 2016 dodge charger the fuel pump is coming on how do I check the fuel filter and the throttle position is located where at on the car
