My key fob for 2007 chevy silverado died. I now use the key and after I unlock the door i have to quickly start it or the security system disables it if i do this quick enough i can start it with no problems, however I have had the locks begin unlocking and locking by thierseves while i am driving and the guages begin going crazy and on a couple of occassions it has died while i was at a stop light I would have to wait a couple of minutes to restart it. while driving I t has also lost all power for a split second but always powers up before it could die. Could these electrical problems be happening because of trying to bypass the security system?

Yes the key bypass system which is linked to security is screwing with you..like the poltergeist!

Same on mine. Sometimes, it would not start at all and driving in high humidity situations( slushy roads, rain and thick fog), it would act up saying TRACTION CONTROL and others were off. The speedometer was more like a tiny wiper. At the dealership after first complaint, the whole fuse box under the hood was changed( it is a RECALL). It was quiet for a time until it did it a second time. The dealership ( a different one ), the mechanic (after exhaustive computer checks ) found that in the back of the truck (around the differential area/driver side) there was a RESISTOR that was missing (probably lost due to rust or other) and its job is to keep the computers "quiet"(here in Canada cost about $45). Has been a very "behaved" vehicle ever since.
