having issues starting

ran fine, parked for a day went to start and just a click at starter, cleaned terminals, bought and installed battery and starter, still just a click, after much frustration hooked jumper cable from negative post to starter body, seems to start every time this way. unhook jumper back to clicking

It is an issue with the ground. Take a close look at the ground connections.
