which is better a 2WD Quad

each has their advantage. I honestly wouldnt pull with a 1500. Personal preference. 2500 or larger. 4x4 is more truck weight and more to fix 2wd is more economical. the hemi is a gass guzzling motor anyway. 4x4 also usually sell for more.

I have a 2005 Expedition 2WD and have pulled a 8000 GVW trailer for over 25,000 miles. I have never run into a situation that I wish I had a 4WD Now, I haven't driven in the Rockies but have been up the East coast. I have the 5.6 cu in and I get about 13 towing and 17 straight highway driving. If your trailer has good balance and you keep about 10% of the weight on the tungh you should have no trouble with the 1500. I guess if you are going to go to the Rockies or into the swamps the 4wd would be worth it. You don't have a new truck so if you find out that you wish you had 4wd, trade. Good luck

THE OBVIOUS ANSWER WOULD BE A 4WD....BUT THAT WOULD OF COURSE DEPEND ON THE KIND OF TERRAIN YOU'LL BE DRIVING ON AND THE GAS CONSUMPTION GOES UP TOO....I HAVE ALWAYS SAID THAT IF YOUR GONNA GET A TRUCK...GET A 4X4!!

Been pulling an open trailer with race car with my 1500 4x4 for several years. Total load w/tools, etc is around 6000 and we do just fine. 2 or 4 makes little difference in pulling but the time I got into a muddy patch at the track made the 4x4 a lifesaver! I have added air shocks to the back to level off the load. That made the handling of the rig a whole lot better! Also, don't let the transmission "hunt" for gears. If you tow in overdrive, keep an ear open (I use a vacuum gauge) for the power application when using cruise control. Switch out of cruise and drive it through heavy load and take out of overdrive manually if needed.

We have a 1997 Expedition 4x4 that we pull our travel trailer with, for now it is good. We have a 2 hour trip coming up and need new tires, any advise on which tires is best or it does not matter? Greatly appreciated.

I have a liking for michilin.(sp?)

I just put on a set (4) of Coopers on my 05 Expedition and love them. They were just under $700 with tax, mount, balance and state junk fees. They are very quiet, great in the rain and reasonably priced. If you are going to keep you car long enough to wear out a set of Michelin, then they are worth it. I don't plan to put more that another 40,000 on mine before I get a newer one.

I have Coopers on my Ram as well. Wear like iron, good traction, too.

Our Ford Edge came with Michelins. Also good. A bit pricier than Coopers.
