why would my 2007 ram 1500 with 27000 miles on it , all of sudden go from an average of 12 to 14 miles a gallon to 9. same driving habbits same gas station and well maintained...

its the 5.7 i have checked everything that i know>>> tire presures, air filters etc... this truck does have the 20, in tires but this problem has only developed in the last couple of weeks....

Has it recently gotten cold where you live? If so, are you starting and idling the engine to warm it up before driving?

I live in the niagara falls area ... Canada no ... still around 50 degrees.. no long idle times. i am woundering if the 4 wheel auto is stuck, as i used it a few weeks ago.

That would certainly affect mileage. Could you have filled with E85 by accident? That would definately result in those numbers! Any loss in power or severe blackening of the tail pipe? How do the spark plugs look? Are both systems firing or only one of the two plugs?

the ethonol that is put in gas today will cause your milage to drop.try a can of seafome fuel injection cleaner in a tank of gas,that should help some.
