Duramax diesel

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2007 duramax disel. While
traveling down the road pulling a camper. I
heard this scrubbing sound. I immediately
stopped unhooked from the camper.
Drove several miles with no problem.
Then the vehicle "locked up". The back
wheels would not turn while in gear.
However you could rotate the tires by
hand. Any idea what the problem could
be?

How does the tranny fluid look? Have you ever replaced your differential fluid? Drive shaft broke? Have someone slowly drive it while you look under from a distance. Jack up back and see if wheels turn in 2 WD and in gear. Transfer case issue? Does it move in 4 WD?
Checked fluid levels. No drive shaft not broken and it is 2 WD.
Any check engine lights/codes?
Is the drive shaft turning in gear while truck is not moving?
I would still jack up rear to see if it is allowing these wheels to turn with any resistance and if differential or rear axles are the issue or transmission. You say shaft is turning so is the transmission providing enough torque for the rear wheels or is the disconnect at the differential or axles out to the wheels? Somehow while it is off the ground in rear and running I would see if there is something that I could get to determine how much these wheels are not moving or if it is just one side.
Have you had any rear axle or differential leaks? How old is this fluid? Not that it helps now but maybe old fluid caused the issue?
