sounds like the seals in the master cylinder leak, get it fixed, i would start with a new master cylinder and all new brake fluid

Look for fluid leaking at every wheel, and throughout the entire braking system before you buy anything. The rear brakes could be causing this and it may have nothing to do with the master cylinder. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR. HAVE IT TOWED OR PULLED ACCORDING TO THE LAW.
"DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR"!!!!!!!!! TAKE THE CAR TO EITHER A GOOD MECHANIC YOU TRUST OR A FORD DEALER. BUT DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!! IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BRAKES ARE FINE THEN AFTER AWHILE THEY GO OUT!!!!! THIS IS WIERD!!!!! THE BRAKES SHOULD NOT DO THIS!! THEY EITHER WORK OR THEY DON'T!!! TOM'S REPLY GOT ME THINKING IT COULD BE THE DIAPHRAM IN THE BOOSTER CYLINDER OF THE POWER BRAKES. BUT DO NOT DRIVE IT, HAVE IT TOWED!!!
Can you push the brakes all the way down or is there tension when you push. Did you check to see if there is any pad left.you can see without taking anything off in the front. If they are fine I would check the fluid yourself.just to save because they will charge for everything.
THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE THE PLUNGER OR IT'S CYLINDER. IN/ON THE MASTER CYLINDER. GUYS HOW PROBABLE IS IT THAT THE COMBINATION VALVE IS GONE.
