Engine hot turn off A/C-digital warning temp gauge at zero or bottomed out at cold, running fine?

Sounds like a bad coolant temperature sensor or a bad connection at the coolant temperature sensor. When the computer does not receive a signal from the coolant temperature sensor it assumes the engine is overheating to prevent engine damage. The fact that the temperature gauge is staying on cold and the overheating message is being displayed without the engine overheating definitely points to that. Hope that helps! Jim
