Engine hot AC off dash code

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This dash code came up, "ENGINE HOT AC OFF" My dash engine
thermometer went to 0. My coolant level looks ok, I also don't believe my
engine is hot at all. The thermostat did come back to life shorty after showing a
normal engine temp of about half way up. Looking to narrow this down. Thanks
in advance!!

This is the coolant temperature sensor or the wiring going to the sensor. When the computer loses the signal from the coolant temperature sensor it assumes the engine is overheating and takes steps to prevent serious engine damage. The message you're seeing, the air conditioning being disabled, and the radiator cooling fans running at high speed are all happening because the computer lost that signal. The temperature gauge going to 0 is a result of that too. Jim
