I am looking to buy a 2008 Saturn Vue for $6000 with 135000 miles. It has a clean carfax, and has had regular oil changes and maintenance. Is this a good buy or is it on its last leg?

If I could get him down to 5,000 and my mechanic Ok's it how many more miles do you think it has left. Would you buy it? I have no idea about cars.

Totally depends on if it has had the transmission rebuilt or not. If it hasn't I would factor that in at getting another $2500 off what it is worth otherwise don't waist your time. The 3-5-R waveplates break in the tranny and at 135k, he might be getting rid of it because of that. If you do get it and the tranny hasn't been rebuilt/replaced then get a warranty if you can.
Is it the v6? I thought the XE was a 4 cylinder and if it is the transmission would be a four speed , which is not problematic. It would be good to know if the transmission filter and fluid was changed. New struts, shocks, tires and stabilizer links would make it ride like knew.

They put 3.5L V6s in XEs with the 6T70 tranny. Yet your right it could be the 4 cylinder. I would recommend doing a Kelley Blue book lookup on the price of cars in that condition. Doing one quick here assuming 3.5LV6 and AWD, the car would be worth about $8500. Therefore assuming tranny hasn't been rebuilt 6k is pretty good, obviously 5-5.5k is better. Yet, maybe the one you are looking at isn't AWD and is the 4 cylinder?
It is a 4 cylinder and has FWD not AWD. They are replacing the stabilizer links already and the tires are new. I have no idea about the shocks or struts.

Seems like the price is right, if you can get some more off that never hurts.
I had a Saturn Vue 4 Cycle automatic, brand new years ago , transmission nightmare! Stay away! Not worth the headache!
