Is GM standing behind its faulty 6 speed automatic trans

Asked by FormerGMfan34 Dec 17, 2014 at 04:03 PM about the 2008 Saturn VUE XR V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 saturn vue xr that the trans just quit ,no warning or indication of problems
whatsoever . sounds like the wave disc problem so many people are having,( no reverse
and only first or second gear.Ive been told by the dealer it would cost $3 -$4 k. Hard to
believe for a 82,000 mile very well maintained vehicle. Totally disgusted ,you try to buy
American made products and first they close the car company then G M won't do a thing
for you! It's no wonder they lost a 100 million law suit over earlier saturns!! They don't
even call for servicing the trans until 100,000 miles, guess now I know why,it won't last
that long! Pretty pathetic!

I would call them and they may help pay half of cost to repair transmission. My transmission works fine at 88,000 miles. It sounds like some wave plates brake with no warning while others last with no problems.
