Asked by buffalo11 Oct 25, 2012 at 07:46 PM about the 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe 2.5 S

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have put on about 5000 to 6000 km' s, mainly highway. Both my oil maintenance light have come on,
changed the oil and light goes out. Is this set on time driving or km' driven? Or is there something else
going on?

If the light went off on it's own then its a sensor that tests oil condition. Did you change the oil or a shop? A shop might have reset it. If so then its got the other kind that most have, uses a formula that takes how aggressive you drive into account and tell you when to change based on that. With these the light may come on at 10,000 miles or 3,000 depending on your driving. As long as you use recommended oil this system works great. Dont go above or below the quality specified. The 2.5 is picky, listen to it.
