2008 Chevy Aveo Timing Belt

Asked by BennetCosta Apr 06, 2020 at 10:18 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet Aveo LT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Chevy Aveo LT that I just purchased ( used) . It has 88k miles
and the mechanic says it needs a new timing belt and serpentine belt. I was
going to buy a 40ish dollar kit online along with the belt so I only have to pay for
cost of labor at the mechanic. How much should I expect to pay in the end for
replacing it? Thank you!

Labor for a timing belt, tensioner and idler pulley is about 2.0-hrs. If you also have the shop replace the camshaft seals, at same time add .9-hrs. Plus parts. Expect to pay around $600-$700
