Trans. Issues on 2008 forester after oil change.

Asked by Jacobcbab Jun 03, 2020 at 11:32 AM about the 2008 Subaru Forester 2.5 X

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed my oil last night, and this morning
my transmission was being extremely jerky,
and going in to neutral when I put the pedal
down, then jerking in gear. It's an automatic
2008 subaru forester (not turbo). I got an "at
oil temp" light and flashed p0600 and p1718.

Did you put engine oil in the transmission?

No, but I'm pretty sure I drained the trans fluid on accedentally. That would explain burning oil as there is too much in the pan.

If you drained the transmission you had better put fluid back in! Driving it with almost no fluid in it will ruin the transmission.

Yep! Only drove abt a quarter mile before I pulled off and parked it. Got the oil drained and got new oil and ATF in. Cheers!
