Quote Accuracy of Timing Belt Repair?
The timing belt broke while I was on the
highway on my 2008 Subaru Outback
standard. Had her towed back to the house
and a mobile mechanic inspected with a
borescope - one side (driver side) looked ok
while both cylinders valve heads on the
passenger side will need to go to the machine
shop. Water pump also needs replacement
and of course the timing belt. A mobile
mechanic quoted me what was 11.5 - 12.5
hours of labor, parts, machine shop at “just
under $2,000”. This sounds reasonable but
wanted to get some other feedback on it. He
added the 2 jobs together, while I was
wondering if any the timing belt/water pump
repair is already part of getting to the heads?
Thanks for any help!
