My 2008 Subaru Outback (automatic) sounds like it is over-working. It sounds like a manual does when you need to shift to a higher gear. Also, my fuel economy seems way down. Thoughts?

No matter what speed I am going, it sounds like it is a gear too low. It doesn't have a high

You didn't say how many miles are on your car, but, it may be the transmission. If you do need a transmission, and continue driving it will eventually ruin the engine since it's working too hard. Take it to a garage and get it checked out.
