What is the fuel pressure for a 5.4 L ford expedition engine

Asked by alincosma Aug 27, 2015 at 01:47 PM about the 2008 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Ford Expedition and I am having problems with the engine after changing the spark plugs and fuel filter, I think the fuel pressure is too high, 60 before start and above 70 engine running. Is this normal? I can smell gas on the exhaust now. No check engine and verified the spark plugs twice.

Yes, that is high. Might need a fuel pressure regulator, or Ford calls them modulators. Specs for the 5.4 are 35 psi +/- 5

Normal regular unleaded. You could use premium if you want to spend the money but you won't get enough gain for the buck to be worth it.

That is over kill! First, what is the milage? If it over 100k then plugs for sure. I would only replace coilpacks as necessary. At $60 each replacing all 8 gets pricy. I good quality plugs would only run $50 and if you're not going to keep it for another 100k they will be fine.

Check injectors, mine was stumbling on hard xcel, changed injectors running fine now also check coil packs and fuel filter, don’t lose the tiny o rings on the injectors , they might stay in the manifold when you pull the old injectors

I have a 2005 F250 5.4 having a problem with it "b0gging down" and pinging under acceleration. Plugs have less than 15,000 miles on them, I just replaced the coils with new motorcraft coils, and injectors. It's driving me crazy. I have a snap on MODIS scanner and all the pids look good.

I have a 99Expediition with the 5.4. I has recently started stumbling like a lying child. I have replaced the IAS but it made no difference. Will be cleaning the injectors, MAF sensor and wiring this week. I have been told to check the plugs which were installed last summer. I will save that hellish job as a last resort. I'd rather shine the devils shoes than ***k with those plugs. Engine was replaced with a reman last year.
