I am dealing with a slew of issues with my 08' Sport, one of which is the same as your description. After 3 cooling temp sensors blowing, and replacing the gas cap, I was informed the issue was my ECM, (engine control module) Getting to this point was very expensive for me, and frustrating is not a strong enough word. To make matters worse, on 12/9/14 I picked it up from the dealer after having the timing chains replaced due to that poor design, and on 12/10/15 I got the check engine code for the timing chains AGAIN!!! Oh it gets even worse... GM will not fix it again, because there is no FIX for the issue. WHAT!?! I have had to replace the front rotors and brake shoes once a year, and since the 2014 repair, the sensor for the shifter/ignition assy went bad, and I had to have it towed, and pay for a shifter assy. Thanks to a bad ECM, which I just paid to replace, I need a new instrument cluster to fix the bad sensor to the gas gauge, and I have lost power to my rear wiper motor! Good grief, really!?! I am all kinds of mad at GM, their handling of this issue, and lack resolve! My sport only had 102,000 when I picked it up after the 3 week repair to the timing chains in 2014. BUYER BEWARE!! The Sport has the same engine that was recalled in the Caddys for the same reason, and I have been told that the warranty was extended for this issue in the Acadia's to 120,000, but not the Equinox! There is a transmission issue and extension for that, but not the timing chains. Does anyone have any suggestions, for permanent replacement parts, I have been told a speed shop might have better guides and tensioners to keep this issue from happening again, but I would have to pay the difference. I am more perplexed at comments like, "once repaired, the problem is fixed, and mine should not be having this problem again", yet here I am.
