2008 Pont G6 Reduced Power came on and shut my car down when i was driving and locked the steering wheel

Can you get to AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them read the code for free?

I have a 2008 PONTIAC G6 base model sedan that cut out on me on the highway. I heard 3 dings at the same time my engine light came on and the read-out on the radio was "SERVICE TRACTION OFF/ REDUCED ENGINE POWER". My neighbor who happens to be a mechanic told me to get some HEET and Sea Foam cleaner and pour these in my gas tank to help get rid of any water. He also told me to get some GUM-OUT and clean around the flap on the throttle body but be careful not to spray to much while cleaning. This happened today Jan. 7, 2015. My car is running fine now.
