First locate the temp sensor on the motor and see if the wire is connected and has a clean contact. Then check the wire to see if it is burnt, cut or broken that will cause a break in the wiring. The next thing is to make sure the wiring all the way to the gauge is not broken. If that is all good, the next thing to do is to replace the sensor. They do go bad, and it really is an easy fix. Just remove the wire, put a wrench that fits and remove it. Replace it with a new one, re-connect the wire and see if that works. If it does not, retest the wire and make sure there is no breaks in it. The next thing would be to test the gauge to see if it works.
My heat sensor keeps breaking up every week, I think it's the wiring of the sensor
Caeasr, check the gauge connection. It may be lose or broken, also the ground at the gauge. Replacing the wire should not be too much of an issue, and not to expensive if you do it.
