Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Mines doing the same thing. I have payed out
$2000 for this same bulb. Replaced them both the
last time now the driver side has blown out. I hate
the fact that unlike other cars you have to remove
the whole bumper cover just to replace the bulb
and each time they charge $200

This is very common with Malibus. It's always the passenger low beam. And isn't it funny that they would design it that way. To have to remove the bumper just to change the bulb which for some reason, ALWAYS goes out. Forget taking it to the shop. They charge you $200 for that service. I taught myself how to do it and now that I've changed it 3 times within the past year and a half, I'm now a pro at it. You don't even have to take the bumper off. Just loosen it a lil bit. I've come to a conclusion that it's not the bulb. Because it comes on if you lightly hit the front of the head light when car is on. So it can't be the bulb. I'm sure sooner or later, hitting won't work. Maybe it's something with the wires. If you figure it out, let me know. I'll do the same.

I have replaced both sets of wiring harness for bulbs. A year later, still blowing bulbs....

When you change out writing harness remove daytime running light relay from fuse box. Something about the poor design of amps/voltage ratio overheats the wiring when day lights are at 30% power. Did passenger side, no problems almost a year. Driver side just started going out, but never replaced harness, think previous damage just caught up with me. When I unlock doors with fob, light comes on ok, but not when I get in and turn lights on. Not sure why that is. Any ideas?
