I have a 2008 Chevy malibu LTZ 4 2.4 L the rpm gauge will ping to 4,000 rpm after driving at highway speeds for 5 to 10 minutes. Doesn't seen to reflect shift points on the rpm gauge however i can feel a little lag in shifting but i don't hear engine reving or wining from the transmission pump.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Chevy malibu LTZ 4 2.4 L the rpm gauge will ping to 4,000 rpm after
driving at highway speeds for 5 to 10 minutes.  Doesn't seen to reflect shift points on
the rpm gauge however i can feel a little lag in shifting but i don't hear engine reving or
wining from the transmission pump. the car has a little less then 70,000 miles and
Chevy won't honor the warranty because it's over 5 years old.  I bought this car less
then 8 months ago do you think i bought a lemon? What should i do?

take your vehicle to a chevy dealer and put it on a diagnostics machine, this should tell you if there is a sensor going bad. also ask them if there is a recall on your vehicle as well. hope this helps
