STARTER GRINDING

2008 SANTE FE.  STARTS WHEN KEY IS TURNED TO ON POSITION AND GRINDS THE STARED TERRIBLY.  ONLY IN PARK AND NEUTRAL.  DOES NOT MAKE ANY NOISE IF STARTED WITH REMOTE STARTER.  I HAVE CHANGED THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER AND THE IGNITION SWITCH.  i CAN SOMETIMES TURN THE KEY JUST RIGHT AND IT STOPS GRINDING. GETTING WORSE.  HELP!

The grinding is probably from a problem with the starter or the flywheel gear. I suspect you simply can't hear the grinding when using the remote starter. You may have already damaged the flywheel gear which will mean removing the transmission to fix it. What ever you do stop driving it until you fix the grinding.

NO GRINDING WITH REMOTE STARTER. BEEN WORKING ON THIS FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. COULD IT BE A RELAY SOMEWHERE? WHERE CAN I GET A WIRING DIAGRAM?

Repair manuals have wiring diagrams. You can get one at the dealer or aftermarket ones at auto parts stores.
