Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was getting a code 455 meaning gross leak in emissions, traced it down to the canister
close valve not closing. The valve works when jumper ed to 12 volts and ohm's out good at
20.6 ohms. There is 14 volts to the valve when its disconnected but as soon as I connect
the valve it goes to 0 volts. Where does the voltage drive for the valve come from?

Jim Thanks for your response but with the valve disconnected there is 14 volts to the connector for the close valve yet when I reconnect it it fail to pick the valve. Yet the close valve works fine when I jumper 12 volts to it and it Ohms out good. I can pull a good vacuum on the canister and gas tank. I think the problem is the drive to the close valve won't energize the valve.

Bad control relay. Relay can't carry enough current to drive the valve solenoid. Hope the fix didn't cost him too much.
