How often do i need to have 5W-30 oil changed?

Read your owners manual... If memory serves the mini coopers interval is 10000 under optimum conditions, so I'm not sure who told you 15,000 in the first place? Some lube jockey telling you mobil 1 is good for 15,000?

I know some oil says it can go for like 15,000 miles or 7,500 or whatever, BUT, if you really want to take car of your car, I've worked at Auto Zone and on many cars, and I change mine every 3,000 miles. That is the best for the vehicle, and it doesn't cost a lot. Simple tips to make your vehicle last, thats probably one of the biggest. Alot of ppl drive way to long on their oil, but if you want to take car of that car I would change it every 3,000 miles

You should check the owner's manual from Mazda for their oil change recommendation. Normaly, synthetic oils are durable and could last for up to 20 000 - 25 000 km before next change. However, quality of the oil in your car's engine will depend on many circumstances: your driving pattern, weather temperature conditions, fuel quality. If you drive most of the time in the city with many ,,stop and goes'' (rush hours) it is recommended to change oil more frequently for best results.

Just change it every 3000 to 4000 miles for the best results.

Read your owners manual. I religously change my oil every 5000 km (3000 miles), I drive an '07 civic Si and it's recomended oil change intervals are every 8000 km. I never let the mileage approach the manufacturers recomended service intervals. Mainly because my motor likes to scream above 6000 rpm (carbon build up and oil consumption are known in Honda's vtec or i-vtec) and oil gets more carbon in it and heat damage @ those rpm's.

in a mazda 3 it should be 5w20

Mazda claims 8,000 Kms between changes, but individual dealers usually recommend 6,000 kilometers. I spent a year at a Mazda dealer, so I know that firsthand.

it depends if your using a full synthetic if you are its about every 6000 miles if it is regular oil about 4000 miles but synthetic is the best I run 0w-40 in my car

if thats your challenger i really hope youre not running 0w-40 in that hemi. 5w-20 or 0w-20 mobil 1 full synthetic is the best oil for that car. 0w-40 is to "heavy" for the hemi. just thought id let you know

no ow-40 is what came in the engine from the dealer and is what is recommended and that is mobil 1 full synthetic 0w-40

5w-20 0w-20 is the light stuff i had to run in my mazda rx-8 its too thin for a big performance hemi

you realize i have a hemi right? i have the 5.7L. if you run over 5w-20 in the 5.7L the mds doesnt operate properly and it voids the warranty. the srt8 is the same recommended oil. you need to check your owners manual before you void your warranty or ruin your engine

Does it not say on the oil cap? I don't own a challenger but thought most vehicles had it right on the cap, same with what octane to run being on the inside of your fuel cover.

I have the 6.1 srt and the manual recommends only Mobil 1 0w-40 full synthetic 5w-20 sounds way too light you sure your not supposed to run 5w-30

since you have mds you obviously have the toned down hemi with automatic transmission I don't have mds becasue there was no way I was going to hold back my hemi with an automatic transmission so I guess I could see were you would run such a light oil although 5w20 still sounds too light why I said you sure you don't need to rum 5w-30 but i'm not sure what the mds does to the engine other than turn it into an every day average street car

ok did some reading. some people at the SRT8 300C forums were using 5w-20 in their SRT8s but technically it is rated for 0w-40. your right. and yes im positive the 5.7L takes 5w-20 for the mds. and the mds is a nothing more than a 4 cylinder shut off at cruising speeds. so whenever i get on it i have all 345 hp but when im just cruising on the hwy i get 25 mpgs.

345 hp dodge rates the 5.7 at 395 hp ok well I know what mds does I just don't know what it did to oil weight requirements I guess you really don't need the heavier oil with the automatic

thats for the 2009 5.7L. i have an 05. those are rated at 345 hp. 09 is rated at 395 hp. transmission has absolutely ZERO effect on oil requirements.

if thats true I should be able to run 5w-20 but its not the lowest weight I can run is 5w-40

The transmission only shifts gears. That's all. It's has zero effect in the required oil for the engine. An engine revs up re same with an auto tranny or a manual. The only difference is the driver gets the choose the shift point. The SRT8 300C in 2006 is an auto. It requires 0W-40 oil also. The MDS is all computer control of the engine. It needs thinner oil for the MDS to open the parts correctly and opperate correctly. The 6.1L doesn't have MDS and doesn't need the thinner oil. It operates at a higher compression ratio also and Chrysler decided it would be best to use a higher weight oil. Nothing to do with the transmission.

it might not but if you were partially right I was thinking of reasons why that would be true but since you hadn't even considered I didn't have mds you weren't

i have worked for a mazda dealer for 15 yrs as a tech and you should change your oil every 3000 miles. 6k is to long and the engines will sludge up and cause problems at higher miles.

Every 5000 miles

I am looking at buying a 2014 Mazda 3i for my son. I noticed the car was serviced faithfully every 7500 miles until the last two oil changes. One was 8 months 12,600 miles and the last was also less than a year at 15,000 miles. The car has 76,000 miles on it and comes from a dealership with the 20 yr./250,000 warranty. Should I be concerned?
