My "dial" just spins between defrost, vent, floor etc. It is on vent and won't change. Is this going to be an expensive fix.

I had an answer up but was really not very good. Try watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yhWGX2SHew

Hopefully the knob is just spinning on stem. That would be the easier fix. It is electric with a servo motor, not vacuum operated. If the stem spins freely, then that video, (I tried to ignore the funky music, it's horrible) but the video is informative .... When you say 'spins freely' you can feel no clicks between selector positions or just spins without clicks?

yes spins freely meaning there is no click or any resistance whatsoever. I have not had a chance to watch the video yet but thank you for the response.
