Other than the obvious like loose connection, or corroded cables etc, check the following. A bad belt, Check the tensioner on the vehicle, it applies spring loaded tension to the belt providing proper turning force to the alternator. If the belt has excessive play, the tensioner could be bad or the belt has been stretched excessively. The light is controlled by the computer in the vehicle. It detects insufficient charging power and illuminates the light.
