Hey All, I have a question,  on my 2008 Chevy Silverado 5.3 I was having
problems with the AFM system, I had cylinders that were backfiring in the
cylinder – had to have new lifters installed. My Stabil track and Traction
control did not act up until my number 6-cylinder lifter froze up and that
cylinder stopped firing, I had to top end rebuild and all problems went away.
There is a lot of talk about the Stabiltrack and Traction control problems but
(at least I have not seen) people are not saying that this problem and the
AFM are related. They were absolutely related on my truck, so my question
is – are the two problems related.

Absolutely related same problems on my 08 Suburban. No issues on the 6.0l V8 Escalade, only the crap 5.3l AFM engine. Issues most relate to the AFM de activating the cyclinders and causing the engine management system to throw a wobbly. Traction control turning of, hard shifting, ticking noises etc. Truck is not safe to drive in snow conditions without traction control working, i know that for fact
