Can I bypass the AC on a 2008 Honda Civic LX 1.8L with just a smaller belt?

I have a 2008 Civic and have had problems with the AC for several years,
after reading some posts on this site I see I am not alone! I cannot afford to
pay the $1100 to fix the AC right now and was wondering if I could just
bypass the compressor relatively easy, for just the cost of the belt? I
replaced the serpentine belt before not knowing that the compressor pulley
had frozen so should be able to put another belt on

yea if noting is in the way...so whats wrong with the ac???? aeven if it need a new compressorand clucch the parts only $160.00...is it a evaporator inside the car tha5ts about 500 to replace???

The compressor was making noise, I thought the belt was just loose, replaced the serpentine and the pully locked up and snapped the belt. It had been running bad, a friend mechanic fixed it temporarily said it had too much freon in it , put his gauges on and adjusted to right pressure, then just quit working, can't tell you why

Is there anything special about the routing for the shorter belt? Routing etc.?
