2008 bmw x5 msport 4.8l draining battery leaking oil

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 x5 4.8l and I noticed it had started
leaking oil at first i thought it may be coming out
around the filler cap in fact some of it is but upon
further inspecting I think it's it may be leaking
elsewhere as well but the strange thing is it will
start smoking if I let it run awhile which is
understandable if it's burning the leaked oil off but
it smells like an electrical burning smell not like
burning oil at all and the battery is being drained
somehow too and it started doing all this at the
same time so how might they be related and
where should I start Iost a leg in an accident 2
years ago and can't really afford to pay anybody if I
don't just have to so any help would be greatly
appreciated

If it’s smoking, the oil is likely leaking onto the exhaust. Check the usual suspects... valve cover gaskets, any oil seals, etc. It may help to clean the oil up then run the engine to try to track down exactly where the leak is coming from. Your battery drain issue is likely unrelated. How old is your battery?
