engine smokes for several seconds when truck is started

My titan started smoking for about 10-20 seconds after starting the engine. This happens when the truck has been inactive for several hours or after sitting overnight. It has been using some oil but we are just starting to monitor oil consumption a little closer after last weeks oil change. Any thoughts as to the cause?

Well if it is smoking i would say that oil is getting onto the exhaust which is more then likely a valve cover leaking. Especially since it has to sit over night it can leak onto the exhaust manifold and in the morning you start it up and it burns it.

I had the exact problem and I put new valve covers on it with new Pcv valves. Curred!!! now if only my engine wasn't knocking.
