The white third brake lights on my 2008 Nissan Frontier won't turn off and it's not related to the brake lights

Asked by wesuu Dec 07, 2015 at 10:41 PM about the 2008 Nissan Frontier SE Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The third brake lights on my 2008 Nissan frontier won't turn off when I lock
my car. It's the right and left white lights on the third brake light which
usually signal that a door hasn't been properly shut. I made sure all of the
doors were shut--the door ajar indicator locks isn't going off.

The issue isn't related to the brake pedal, since all of the red lights that light
up when I depress the pedal work properly (including the red third brake
lights).

Please help!!!

I think your problem is a bad or out of adjustment door switch.

I have a 2018 Frontier SV and those Cargo Lights are annoying - I fear they will stay on and kill my battery. Yes, there is a switch for cargo lights, but what if it is accidentally left on? So after I added a topper, I couldn't find the fuse for the cargo lights. So I just disconnected them. The light assembly is fastened by 2 bolts - get at the bolts from inside the cab, under 2 square shaped plugs on the rear roof. Pain in the butt, but can be done. take the lamps out or just disconnect the assembly.

On my 2016 Frontier (I said 2018 in above post), here is the way to get under the headliner and disconnect the cargo (and brake) light.

I had the same issues then realized there’s cargo lamp button on the far left of dashboard. Don’t feel like an idiot, I did that for you! :) https://youtu.be/bdJRor9brYY
