I have a 96 Honda Civic EX that I just bought and it's in almost perfect condition, I just have noticed that the temp gauge will run hot at idle, and when I'm driving it goes back to normal. Why ??

Check to see if the fans are coming on. If there not on when the thermostat opens the check the cooling fan relay to see if it is clicking. You can also check the coolant temp sensor By unplugging the connector and using a paper clip insert both ends into the connector plug to see if the fans come on, If they do come on by doing this the the sensor is bad. If your not sure when the thermostat was replaced then it wouldn't hurt to relate it.
