Your brake light will come on IF he fluid is low also. Top off your fluid first. If your brakes need a replacement your going to hear your wear tabs first. Tiny aluminum strips are embedded in the last 3 OR 4 mil of your pads. They make a noise to let you know your brakes are going.
The BRAKE indicator light came on then went off. Now it's back on again
