Dealership recommended an EGR. As I only have 72000 kilometers on my truck (2008) I
found a bit surprising but not knowing what it actually is I didn't say yes or no.
The egr on my 2007 dodge quad cab went out at about 100000 miles or so. Had been giving me issues before that but no one could figure it out due to not acting up all the time and it did not thro any codes. But after I replaced it all the other issues I was having went away. So I guess to answer your question I would service/change it if your maintenance schedule calls for it. Maybe doing so will save you the headaches I had with mine.
