Car burns more oil

Asked by Vinayak Jul 03, 2019 at 02:24 PM about the 2009 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi- I took my car to a repair shop for oil change about 3 weeks ago. The oil
light flashes when I step hard on the brake at any speed. So, I took it to the
garage they said the oil level was low and they don't know what is causing
the car to burn oil so fast (no leak was found). It's only been few days and
less than 1000 miles so obviously something is wrong. As i saw on the post
before that Toyota dealer fix this for free, if any issues, i took it to them but
they were charging me to get the oil consumption test done. Moreover, they
told me as it is more miles (148,000 miles) it is normal.
Any guesses? Thanks!

You are assuming they got the oil level right at the shop. Top it off and keep checking the oil level until you get a good idea of the oil usage.

I checked the oil level myself as well when i went to the garage. So i have checked the mileage that between 1000 - 1200 mileage it reaches to the minimum level on oil marker.
