Dealer Dissatisfaction

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 2008 BMW 650i convertible from Klett
Automotive Go in St Augustine, FL. I purchased an
extended warranty given the age of the car. Two
days after purchasing the car, I experienced an
extreme transmission problem. At first the dealer
was VERY helpful trying to identify and repair the
car. I took it back 3 times, yet the problem was
never fixed. After a dangerous event occurred with
the same problem, the specialty transmission
mechanic figured that the Transmission Control
Module needs replacing - to the toon of several
thousands of dollars. The mechanic called my
warranty company for approval, but was told they
WOULD NOT cover the costs. The dealer was
aware of the transmission problem, and is now
trying to dodge my calls. Not only dodging me, but
even lying to me. Any suggestions? HELP!

The dealer said he knew about the problem before he sold it to you but did not tell you about it? Look at your warranty and see if it is covered or not, If it looks like it is then you may be able to pressure the warranty company to pay for it with a lawyers letter.

How do you know the dealer knew about the problems? If you have proof, march into the mangers office and demand satisfaction.

Thanks guys for your response. I had a VERY interesting afternoon face-to-face with the dealer management team. First, I had my attorney on the phone to insure I covered my posterior. I reminded the owner of OUR conversation when I brought the car back on the second day to alert him of the transmission problem. He stated then: "yeah my wife had the same problem and I thought it was fixed". He kept the car then and said "we will figure out the problem; give us a couple of days". On day five, I picked up the car and was assured the problems were identified, and repaired. Wish this story ended on day five. Two days later the same transmission problem reared itself again. This time in the middle of I95. I went to accelerate into traffic and the transmission slipped and I came within feet of a semi-truck taking me out. In what I finally thought the warranty company would resolve the problems, they refused to cover the 9k bill.... This afternoons meeting resulted in the dealer agreeing to pay for any repairs. If they can't fix, they will return my down payment, and will assist in locating another 650i. Thanks again for taking time to respond....
