Loud humming sound and vibrating from front end of car

Loud humming sound from front end
of car and it's vibrating through the
right floor and I'm scared the wheel is
going to fall off or front end is going to
fall apart and I'm going to loose control
and wreck. I've been told it may be the
hub bearing and I am concerned if I
should drive it because I don't know if
it's dangerous. Are they hard to fix,
expensive and time consuming to
repair? Any advice you could give me
would be greatly appreciated.
