Air Filter and Engine light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A couple weeks ago I replaced my air filter, I have done it previously with
no issues.  Immediately after I started the vehicle my check engine light
came on.  I got the code read as P0102- MAF Sensor Circuit Low
Frequency.
I checked all the wiring, removed and put the air filter back.

Does any one have any other ideas as to what could be causing this light?

Hi, On my Chevy S10 you need to remove the air temp connector to get at the box that holds the filter itself. I disconnected this, changed the filter and got a check engine light. Sometimes when you disturb one thing you set off another. Also, MAF sensors need to be cleaned with the appropriate spray cleaner. Who knows? Maybe you added airflow with the clean filter and the system needs to recalibrate itself. If you disconnect the battery, the computer then recalibrates the engine to the new value. Hope this helps in some way. Chris.

In addition, I would expect that the 09 is new enough to not need a sensor. Best of luck to you. C.

I had a similar problem after disturbing the air intake box. As long as the vehicle is running good, clear the code and drive and see if it comes back. If it does I would suggest a MAF cleaning with mass air flow sensor cleaner.

Thank you for all your help, I am having someone clear the code tonight, hopefully it doesnt come back on. If it does Ill try cleaning the sensor
