Car key locked in the ignition

Asked by GuruBXWVN Dec 22, 2018 at 09:45 PM about the 2009 Chevrolet HHR LS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car key started to lock in the igntion and wouldn't turn all the way off so
that it could be removed from the igntion. With jiggling and redriving the car
for a bit, it came undone. But then stayed permanently in the ignition. Even
jiggling the steering wheel, while trying to loosen and turn the key, didn't
work. Also, the two remotes I have to lock and unlock the car, no longer
work. The battery is fine in my car, so what's causing this, and how can I
release the key from the igntion? Thanks
