I have a 2009 chevy impala lt 3.9 engine and yesterday while I was at a stop light, once the light turned green and I pressed the gas I heard a loud pop sound and right after my car wouldn't move.

It will roll backwards. I can put it in gear but
when I press the gas the engine just revs.
Can anyone tell me whats wrong and how

Hope fully you just broke a cv axel,or you have internal transmission problems,

Look under front fender there is a shaft from both wheels going to tranny ,check them for lossness.

They are the axels which move the car.
