Hello Valerie. Ford had an active recall out for the explorers and mariner's around the time yours was made. There were some overheating electronics that caused the car to stall randomly. Here's an article that helps explain. I'd check with your dealer to see if your car is eligible for a recall service. https://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/13/automobiles/ford-recalling- older-escapes-for-a-stalling-problem.html

2006 Mercury Mariner turns off and looses power while driving

Did you ever find the answer to your problem? I have a 2005 Mariner and having the same problem.

2008 Mariner here and I've been having same issue. I will notice a burning smell. No mechanics have isolated the problem. I was told it is not a bad alternator because it wouldn't turn back on if it was. There is literally no warning when this happens. I only have 135,000mls. Why would Ford just leave us face first in the dirt never taking care of us with such a serious safety concern????

Your Answer:

Mariner
