what RWD manual transmission with 2.5 DURATEC

Question type: Car Customization
I want to use a the DURATEC 2.5 engine in my 67 MGB project, however Id like
to find out which RWD transmissions are compatible in order to start gathering
measurements. My guess would be possibly a Miata transmission, but just not
sure, or a Ford Ranger trans/Mazda truck...those 2 would take much more work
due to the location of the gear shift....any help would be great.

I'm pretty sure the Duratec engine is configured for FWD only. You will need to find something else that is compatible.
I think this engine is probably too tall. A Miata drive drain probably makes the most sense but I would supercharge the stock engine and install a modern 5 speed.
Thanks for replies, TDolby the Duratec has been used in a few of these conversions, however most have been done in England and there are different models of Ford and Mazdas there we don't have available here. Height wise, it should work out with altered pan and custom made motor mounts/cross member. The base block is used in the Ford/Mazda trucks so I know those model of transmissions will work, but there is a 7 inch difference...I guess bottom line question would be will a Miata trans mate to the Duratec, if it does the real fun begins. F_O_R , the project is going to be far from concourse unfortunately, I like the idea of the 5 speed conversion and supercharger, however for the same amount of money we can increase the HP and reliability of the drive line..IF done proper of course. I have seen the Miata conversion done using the 1.8, this is an option by all means. Many V6 conversions done as well, but not a fan...I like the DURATEC the block and the head are aluminum, and the motor was designed to support many configurations when it comes to tuning...just sounds a bit more fun. Thank you both for your answers and time.
