Hook up an external gauge to see if your gauge may be defective
There is a screen under the oil pressure sending unit that has to come out and be replaced or cleaned. This screen gets plugged up and affects how the oil pressure sending unit reads, giving a incorrect reading on the gauge. Should replace the oil pressure sending unit since it is out.
